– Rev. Canon Uche Chinamerem took a swipe at residents in Imo over the filth in the neighbourhood
– The Anglican priest said the peoplemust learn to change their attitude
– He noted that if the government failed to do what is necessary, the people must act

Rev. Canon Uche Chinamerem has pointed attention to the level of filth in Igboland by celebrating Nigeria’s Independence Day at a dump site.

Vanguard reports that Chinamerem who is the priest of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri in Imo state stayed at the dump site enjoying a drink with an unidentified man.
We all sinned in Nigeria The priest who is also the chaplain of the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Imo State University said people needed to change their attitude and his reason for celebrating at the dump site was to create awareness.“Let’s accept that the government refused to clear the refuse, how can a normal human being go to the market every day, trade within that dirty environment and think nothing about the refuse? Don’t we have market women association, community groups or vigilante in the area

“Obviously, they are waiting for the government to clear the refuse. In Igbo parlance, we say a rejected mandoes not reject himself. Why have we decided to reject ourselves? Why can’t we clear the refuse and tell the government that if it cannot be responsible, we are responsible citizens? So, this is not just about spiting the government, but telling our people to wake up and do the right thing when the government has failed.”
