Nigeria Labour Congress pleads with Nigerians to be One and Forget Biafra.

– The NLC has urged Nigerians to be steadfast as the country tries to get out of recession

– The group called on those calling for disintegration to forget it

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has sent a message to those calling for the disintegration of Nigeria to forget it as the country would not break-up.Members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and Movement for the Actualisation of a Sovereign State Of Biafra (MASSOB) have been agitating for secession and this demand has increased since President Muhammadu Buhari took over power.

Vanguard reports that the NLC duringthe Independence Day celebration in Abuja said those calling for Nigeria’s disintegration will not succeed as thecountry has a lot to benefit from being one.Comrade Ayuba Wabba who is the president of the NLC called on Nigerians to be steadfast and keep faith as the country tries to get out ofits current problem.“On the occasion of the 56th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence, on behalf of the National Executive Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, I join the leadership of our nation in various fields to salute the Nigerian spirit, I salute the extraordinary resilience and patriotism of the average Nigerian.‘’When all seems down and out, we always find ways of overcoming our adversaries. As we mark this year’s anniversary in the midst of a recessionary economy, and amidst massive suffering and unprecedented challenges in the polity, we must keep faith, that we will overcome our difficulties and challenges, and ultimately triumph over our current socio-economic and political challenges.

“On behalf of Organised labour, I want to use this occasion of our National Independence day to call onthe political leadership of our country-from national to states and local government levels, that they need to do more to show selfless commitment to building a strong andsustainable country in which our current and future generations will beproud of.“As the biggest black nation on earth,we collectively owe it as a duty to theblack race, both in the continent and in the diaspora, to build a united and prosperous nation.”Meanwhile, Chief Edwin Clark, the Ijaw national leader,said Nigeria has every reason to celebrate as it has remained one indivisible country.He congratulated Nigeria on her 56th independence celebration, saying despite the civil war, Nigeria remains one.On the issue of Biafra, he said those agitating today weren’t born in 1967 when the civil war took place.Clark said to would be difficult for any group to break away from Nigeriaas the country is interwoven.
